Thanks. The air pump of a vacuum cleaner moves a close-fitting cylindrical magnet on the inside of the track tubing just like the way that traditional pneumatic tube systems work. As the track tube is not transparent, the moving inside magnet is hidden from view. The 'car' on the outside of the track tubing has some smaller magnets attached, and these follow the movement of the larger cylindrical magnet on the inside.

I started learning this about 10 years ago and simply chose standard tuning as a basis. I also think the arrangement shown here may be simpler for most players. However, in general, I think that the best basis to learn a song is to use the original tuning and fingering.

Many thanks for your comment Giulio. Previously I was playing with electric, acoustic, classical, and bass guitars. More recently I've tried to play with one guitar to concentrate on one fretboard and one gauge of strings etc. Currently I'm using a Fender GC-1 (I've now tried 2 alternative necks!) and a Roland GR-55 to get many different sounds from one guitar. My nails wear too easily on steel strings and I don't want the maintenance of acrylic nails. So I've been cutting my own nails shorter and using my own custom made thumbpicks. I found the standard thumbpicks to stiff for my strumming so I mounted a thinner plectrum on to a cut-off thumbpick instead. This has been working well for me for the past two years. Maybe I'll do a video on my custom thumbpicks :<)
